The Project Peer Review is a biennial requirement for all offices in the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE). The peer review process follows guidelines established by EERE and is designed to evaluate the performance of individual projects and assess the office’s overall research and development portfolio. Results are used to inform strategic decision making and guide the office’s future direction.
Each project must be reviewed by a panel of at least five independent reviewers. Peer review panels are designed to represent perspectives of academia, industry, non-profit organizations, or other government agencies.
The Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) Project Peer Review will consist of nine peer review panels, representing each of the technology program areas, as well as two cross-platform sessions. Each peer review panel will have an assigned lead reviewer who will coordinate with the Peer Review Steering Committee, as well as the BETO Peer Review Planning Team.
Members of each peer review panel must be recognized subject matter experts in the field they are designated to review. Reviewers must have no conflicts of interest that would interfere with an unbiased review of the reviewed projects; reviewers will be required to sign a formal conflicts of interest form in advance of the review.
This posting in EERE’s eXCHANGE system is how the Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) will implement their FY19 Project Peer Review. Only existing BETO awards will be allowed to submit data during this process. If you submit data and you are not an existing BETO award recipient, your submittal will be deleted and no further action will be taken.
Further process instructions will be sent to your project’s Principle Investigator.
