The Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) intends to issue, on behalf of the Solar Energy Technologies Office, a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) entitled “Sustainable and Holistic IntegratioN of Energy storage and Solar PV (SHINES)”.
As solar power plants proliferate, the variability and uncertainty of the solar resource poses challenges for integrating PV with electric power systems, both at the distribution and bulk system levels. The goal is to enable holistic design, development, and widespread sustainable deployment of low-cost, flexible, and reliable solutions that have energy storage as one of the key components for successful integration of PV power plants.
The purpose of this Notice of Intent (NOI) is to provide interested parties advance notice that EERE intends to issue a FOA in the near term titled, Sustainable and Holistic IntegratioN of Energy storage and Solar PV (SHINES). NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED THROUGH THIS NOI. All of the information contained in this Notice is subject to change. EERE will not respond to questions concerning this Notice. If the FOA is released, EERE will provide an avenue for potential Applicants to submit questions.
This is a Notice of Intent only. DOE may issue a FOA as described herein, may issue a FOA that is significantly different than the FOA described herein, or may not issue a FOA at all.
